Star Citizen Launcher Download Game 1
Hello everyone!
Historically, patch days cause the most tech support issues for games because it changes the way the program works and there are a lot of things that can interfere with that process.
I wanted to go over some things that can help us all get through patch days a little bit easier for any issues that might pop up with getting new patches.
1. Click on the cog in the upper right of the launcher and click 'reset to defaults'
2. Scan for viruses and malware. These can block the launcher from working correctly.
3. Run windows update to make sure the computer has all of the most recent updates from Microsoft.
4. Run msconfig, select selective startup, disable everything in the services and startup tab. Restart the computer and then try running the launcher again.
5. Make sure the launcher is being run in administrator mode in case the issue is being caused by admin privileges.
6. Make sure security programs are disabled (for the more invasive security programs that require special uninstall tools, removing them from the computer may be required)
7. Do not use a wireless connection. There are too many things that can interrupt them. Did you know some microwaves function on the same frequency as some routers and can interrupt the signal when used?
8. Change your network setup so that your internet goes directly from your modem to your computer with a wired connection. Any devices that exist between your modem and the computer (which for almost all of us will be a router) has its own set of problems that it can have and it's easier to just skip the device entirely than try to figure out what might theoretically be wrong with it.
9. Flush the computers DNS cache(steps for this can be found on the Microsoft support site) . Usually rebooting the computer does this but sometimes it doesn't.
10. Unplug the power to your network devices to flush the DNS for those. After it's been unplugged for a minute, plug the power back in (your computer may need to be rebooted to get internet back)
If that doesn't help:
1. Turn on the error logging for your launcher,
2. Launch it again
3. Navigate to the StarCitizenLauncherLauncherData
4. Send the launcher.log and the settings file to our customer support
